No Library Card Required to Check Out LibCon this Saturday

3rd annual free event returns to Jimmie B. Keel and SouthShore libraries

If action characters are your hobby, your alternate universe awaits this Saturday, May 12, at two Tampa-Hillsborough County public libraries.

The 3rd annual Tampa Bay LibCon takes place at the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library, 2902 W. Bearss Ave. in northwest Hillsborough County, and the SouthShore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way in Ruskin. The family-friendly events will feature appearances by comic book artists and writers, best-selling fiction authors, cosplay contests, tabletop gaming, kids' crafts, face painting, and more - and all for free.

Among the many activities at Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library, the schedule includes:

  • Cosplay contests kick off at noon for kids, and at 4 p.m. for teens and adults (register no later than one hour before the contests begin). The first-place winner in the teens and adults contest will win a pass to METROCON 2018.
  • A 1:30 p.m. appearance by Sergio Cariello, who started drawing comic books as a child and has been an artist for Marvel Comics since 1992
