Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management Department is expanding the County Resource Recovery Facility’s capacity by May 2009 from 1,200 tons to 1,800 tons per day.
This expansion will divert about 200,000 tons of solid waste annually from the County’s Southeast County Landfill AND will increase the faci’s electricity production to 45 megawatts per day, enough to provide electricity to 35,000 homes.
