This section of the Public Works Department has two primary units: Traffic
Engineering and Traffic Operations. Traffic Engineering is responsible
for
duties, such as traffic signal timing, traffic studies and design reviews,
traffic counts and sign design. They also are responsible for transportation
aids, such as interactive message boards, the Residential Traffic Calming
Program, and the Street Lighting Program. Traffic Operations is responsible
for the installation, maintenance and replacement of existing traffic control
devices, such as traffic signals, roadway lighting, striping, traffic signs
and pavement markings. The unit also responds to emergencies related to
traffic signs, lighting and signals. During normal business hours, call
744-5670. (Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m.)
EMERGENCIES (nights, weekends and holidays): Report hazardous conditions, malfunctioning traffic signals or downed signs to the Sheriff's Office
at 247-8200.
