Working to Control the Spread of Invasive Species in Hillsborough County

The Invasive Species Task Force (ISTF) is a multi-agency partnership with 4 main goals:

  • Hillsborough County Invasive Species Task Force Brochure ( PDF, 1557KB )
  • Remove existing nonnative invasive plants ( PDF, 3501KB ) on public lands and stem the spread of invasives to other sites;
  • Facilitate citizen involvement and volunteerism of the control and removal of invasive plants;
  • Create awareness about the existence and the harm of invasive plants to Florida’s plants and wildlife; and
  • Educate the public on invasive plant control, eradication techniques and native plant replacements.
Participants of the ISTF include citizens, non-profit organizations and government agencies. The ISTF meets monthly on the third Wednesday of the month, and holds quarterly invasive removal work days to control invasives on public properties.
