Civil Commitment Laws (Involuntary)
Involuntary Substance Abuse Treatment Law commonly known as the Marchman Act allows involuntary commitment for up to 72 hours, under certain circumstances. Means of providing an individual in need of substance abuse services with emergency services and temporary detention for substance abuse evaluation and treatment when required either on voluntary or involuntary basis.
Involuntary Mental Health Treatment or Evaluation commonly known as the Baker Act allows involuntary commitment for up to 72 hours, under certain circumstances.
