Employee Benefits

Hillsborough County Employees are offered a variety of benefit packages to choose from. A summary of benefits and optional benefits are listed below. For more information, contact Human Resources.

Health: Coverage is effective the first of the month following 60 days of employment for employees who wish to participate.

TRICARE Supplement: Employees may participate in this supplement, which is an optional gap policy coordinated with the TRICARE plan. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 60 days of employment.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse: This program provides professional, confidential counseling for employees and family members who are enrolled in the County’s Group Medical Health Plan.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP): This program provides professional, confidential counseling sessions for employees and their family members. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.

Dental: Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment for employees who wish to participate.

Vision: Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment for employees who wish to participate.

Life Insurance: Employees are eligible for enrollment in the group term life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) policy. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment for employees who wish to participate.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts are available.

Short Term Disability: Coverage is effective the first of the month following six months of employment for employees who wish to participate.

Long Term Disability: Coverage is effective the first of the month following six months of employment for employees who wish to participate.

Deferred Compensation: Employees are eligible for enrollment in one of the deferred compensation accounts. Maximum annual contributions are determined by the most current IRS Guidelines.
