Board of County Commissioners The Board approves the County's operating and capital budgets and the County's capital improvement program. It may take action on any programs for the improvement of the county and the welfare of its residents.
Under a Charter Ordinance that went into effect May 1985, County Commissioners are directed to perform legislative functions of government by developing policy for the management of Hillsborough County.
County Administrator The Hillsborough County Administrator is an appointed official who serves as Chief Executive Officer of the County and is responsible for carrying out all decisions, policies, ordinances and motions made by the Board of County Commissioners.
Property Appraiser
Charged with placing a fair and just value on each individual property in Hillsborough County
Sheriff
Charged with the County's law enforcement, public safety and corrections functions
Supervisor of Elections
Charged with administering all elections in Hillsborough County, conducting voter registration and issuing voter information cards, updating voter registration lists and providing for absentee registration and voting
Tax Collector
Charged with collection of property taxes, serving as an agent for various state agencies and managing local revenue programs
Hillsborough County runs 7 senior adult day care centers and 26 nutrition and activity centers, where residents can socialize, receive a hot meal, and obtain social work counseling, referrals for services, health information and therapy.
More than 1,740,000 lunches are served annually to seniors at these centers.
