The Equal Opportunity Administrator's Office is responsible for ensuring equal opportunity to County residents. The office implements the Human Rights Ordinance, which prohibits discrimination in housing, employment, public procurement and public accommodations based on race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, disability, marital status, and also based on familial status with respect to housing. This office also serves as the human relations liaison between the County and the community.
In addition, the Equal Opportunity Administrator's Office conducts investigations into allegations of employee misconduct that is based on harassment, discrimination, and/or retaliation. This office conducts these internal investigations for departments or agencies that fall under the jurisdiction of the County Administrator. This office is also a resource for Hillsborough County employees and managers in providing training and information to assist in those areas and in assessing the scope and nature of discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation complaints.
