2018 Hiking Spree

Get up, get out, and discover Hillsborough County's wild side during the Hiking Spree! Take a solo trip into the tranquility of nature, or hike with friends and make it a healthy and fun group activity. Each trail is a unique way to explore outdoor Florida and earn your very own prize.

How it Works

Complete a minimum of eight designated trails between Nov. 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018. Some sites have entrance and parking fees. Participants may hike on their own, with family and friends, special interest groups, or through one of our guided park staff hikes. 

You must register for the Hiking Spree to track your hikes and receive your medallion. Download the trail checklist to report your hikes, including the Hiker's Choice - Anywhere on Earth option.

Hiking Spree Trails

  • Hike at least 8 of our 20 designated trails
  • Hiking can take place on your own or during a guided event
  • Trails are ranked by class and severity
    • Trail Classes: A-All Purpose, B-Basic, C-Primitive
    • Ratings: 1-Easy, 2-Moderate, 3-Strenuous. 
 

Hikers Choice

You can also choosed to hike anywhere on Earth. You will just need to report the location, trail name and distance on your completed form.

Access Hikers

May repeat any trail twice for credit provided they occur on different dates. Upon completion, please choose between a medallion or an official Access Hiker Patch. 

Safety

  • Please dress appropriately and bring plenty of water.
  • Trail Classes: A-All Purpose, B-Basic, C-Primitive
  • Ratings: 1-Easy, 2-Moderate, 3-Strenuous

Rewards

To receive your medallion or patch, bring your completed form by March 31, 2018 to: All Peoples Life Center or one of these Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation Centers: Brandon, Gardenville, Jackson Springs , Northdale, Roy Haynes, Ruskin, or Westchase. Completed forms may also be delivered to Conservation Park Offices at Bell Creek Preserve or Branchton.
