Overview

If you have a current Firefighter II and EMT certifications, you can volunteer for the Reserve Responder program.

Eligibility

  • Current Firefighter II certification
  • Current EMT certification
  • U.S. citizen, or authorized to work in the United States
  • Clean criminal history
  • Pass initial medical and physical examinations
  • Pass a drug screening
  • Willing to submit to random drug screenings
  • Pass a background check, including, but not limited to:
    • Investigate truthfullness of all statements made on the application
    • Check all references, including moral standards and character
    • Verify identity
  • Tobacco free for at least one year preceding application/drug screening

Things To Consider

  • Once the application is submitted, it becomes a matter of public record, subject to release to other persons or agencies upon request
  • If we approve your application, you will go through an interview process for the program
  • If chosen for the program, we will place you on a six month initial probationary period
    • Your or HCFR can terminate your service, with or without cause, and with or without notice, at any time
  • We may require a post-approval offer physical examination and/or drug and alcohol test before you can serve in the program
  • We will assign you stations and shifts
  • There are minimum time requirements
  • This is strictly volunteer, and we do not compensate you for your time

What's Next

  1. We will review your application for eligibility
  2. If selected, we will interview you
  3. Based upon the application and interview, we may move forward with background and reference checks, medical examinations, and drug screening
  4. If you pass everything successfully, we may offer you a spot on the Reserve Responder program
