Lost and Found Pets

Whether you are looking for your missing dog, or you found someone’s cat, lost pets need immediate attention. Here are some tips from the Pet Resource Center (PRC) to help reunite lost pets with owners.

I lost a pet. What can I do?

  1. Review the Daily Intake Report, which shows all animals brought into the shelter the previous day
  2. Search PRC's lost pets pages for dogs and cats
  3. Visit PRC at 440 N. Falkenburg Road during regular business hours to view all pets currently at the shelter
  4. Visit the Lost and Found Pets of Hillsborough County Facebook page

I found a pet. What can I do?

  • If the pet has a tag, use our Pet Tag Lookup tool to help identify the owner
  • Bring the pet to PRC at 440 N. Falkenburg Road to have it scanned for a microchip
  • Turn the pet into the PRC during regular business hours. Please be advised: peak times are first thing in the morning and around noon. Longer wait times can be expected at these times. The in-take process can take more than an hour to complete. Please plan accordingly.
  • Visit the Lost and Found Pets of Hillsborough County Facebook page and check for postings from people who are missing a pet
    • If you don’t see a listing, post a lost pet notice with:
      • a clear photo of the pet
      • the date you found it
      • nearest major crossroads
      • contact number
      • if you want to remain private, you can message the page administrators with the information and picture
