This Volunteer Trip Includes a Wagon Ride

Hillsborough County, Fla. (June 7, 2017) - Sometimes volunteering can be fun as well as rewarding.

Hillsborough County needs volunteers to help plant longleaf pines on Saturday, June 10. The trip will include a truck-drawn wagon ride in the beautiful Lower Green Swamp Nature Preserve, the County's largest preserve.

Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at the Lower Green Swamp Nature Preserve office, 3540 E. Knights Griffin Road in Plant City. They will receive a short briefing and then be driven to the planting site, where work should finish by 11 a.m. Volunteers can hike out at their leisure or take a wagon ride through a scenic loop of the Lower Green Swamp.

The project is designed to help restore native longleaf pine habitat. Tools and gloves will be provided. Volunteers should bring a reusable water bottle and wear closed-toe shoes and sun protection.

Volunteers can register online. Email Andy Fairbanks or call (813) 853-1163 for more information.
