Public to Learn About Gibson Avenue Drainage Improvements at Open House Meeting
Hillsborough County, Fla. (August 3, 2018) - Hillsborough County residents can learn about a project to alleviate flooding on a section of Gibson Avenue near 58th Street in the University of South Florida area during a public information meeting on Monday, August 6. Hosted by Hillsborough County Public Works, the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and take place at the Omar K. Lightfoot Recreation Center, 10901 North 56th Street in Temple Terrace.
The meeting will have an open-house format, with project displays available for viewing. Attendees can review, ask questions, and comment on the $1.9 million Capital Improvement Project, which is scheduled to begin in late 2018.
The project will construct a new stormwater detention area on County-owned property to increase capacity of the existing stormwater system in this area. The existing structures on the proposed pond site, located at 5804 Gibson Ave. and 5619 E. 130th Ave., will be demolished.
