Extension workshop answers questions for March 1 application deadline

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Feb. 8, 2018) - Hillsborough County landowners, growers/producers, and owners of small farms who want to know more about the agricultural classification for property tax assessment purposes are invited to attend a workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at the Hillsborough County Extension Service.

Organized by Extension staff in partnership with the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser's Office and local farmers, this new workshop will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the conference center at the Extension Service, 5339 County Road 579 in Seffner.

Seating is limited. Register

Also known as "greenbelt," the agricultural classification can be assigned to such property as citrus groves, pastures, cropland, and nurseries. The classification is a benefit that provides a lower assessment to farmers in order that they may continue to commercially farm their land. The deadline to apply to the Property Appraiser's Office for 2018 certification is March 1.

For more information about the workshop, including pricing, contact Francisco Rivera at (813) 744-5519 ext. 54119.
