Before Construction Begins Residents Invited to Carrollwood Community Park Open House

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Feb. 28, 2018) - Work will begin soon to turn a decommissioned wastewater treatment plant into a beautiful, 50-acre park. Residents are invited to an open house on Tuesday, March 6, to learn about the park's amenities and design.

Carrollwood Community Park at 13055 Delwood Road will have a splash pad, playground, picnic shelters, walking trail, pond, and dog park. Construction is expected to begin in April and be completed by the end of the year.

Work will include the restriping of West Village Drive to provide a new turn lane for the park entrance. The project also includes parking, restrooms, and indoor community space.

Wednesday's open house will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Carrollwood Cultural Center, 13345 Casey Road. A video outlining the project will be shown, and officials from Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation will be available to answer questions.

The new park is being built on the site of the former Dale Mabry Wastewater Treatment Plant. The 40-year-old plant was retired because of increasing operation and maintenance costs.
