Shred Fest Friday

Kick off Nat'l Consumer Protection with Free Document Shredding and Tips to Thwart Identify Theft

Kick off National Consumer Protection Week and help prevent identity theft with free professional document shredding and expert education. From 10-11:30 AM in the library parking lot, come shred unneeded documents containing signatures, account numbers, social security numbers, or medical or legal information, such as:

  • Old papers with personal identifying information
  • Old bank statements
  • Old pay stubs
  • Voided checks
  • Old medical records and insurance forms
  • Credit card applications, statements and expired cards

A Lunch 'n Learn with Consumer Protection Services will follow from 11:45 AM - 1 PM on the first floor inside the library. Bring your brown-bag lunch and join experts to learn how to avoid scammers at tax time, ID theft prevention, staying safe online, and other topics of interest. Bilingual assistance provided. The event is free and open to all - no registration required. Maximum three containers per citizen for free shredding, (no commercial businesses).
