Hillsborough County will hold a technical committee meeting to continue the discussion on considering and evaluating a mobility fee schedule to potentially replace the system of concurrency. Concurrency is how the government helps pay for infrastructure, such as roads, schools and parks, that is necessary to serve the needs of new development. The meeting will be held on Wed., Oct. 28, at 9:30 a.m. in the County Center, 20th Floor Conference Room, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., downtown Tampa.
The County has been reviewing the process for several months now and has formed a technical committee as a first step to establish a method to calculate the mobility fee. The technical committee includes representatives from the Planning & Growth Management Department, Public Works Department, County Attorney, Planning Commission, Florida Department of Transportation, City of Tampa, HART, and industry experts.
After the first step is completed, a policy committee will be formed to make recommendations on implementing the fee.
