Al Higginbotham is a native of Plant City. He received a Bachelor of
Science degree from the University of Florida in political science before
working for a United States congressman and a member of the Florida Cabinet.
Higginbotham moved into the private sector by starting a real estate
brokerage firm, and served for three years as chairman of the Hillsborough
County Republican Party.
Higginbotham was elected to the County Commission in November 2006
to represent District 4, which encompasses eastern and southern Hillsborough
County.
Higginbotham remains today a staunch advocate for persons with disabilities,
agricultural issues and faith-based causes. Higginbotham and his wife,
Devon, have been married since 1979 and have two children.
