Alzheimer's Disease Initiative Programs provides a period
of relief for the full-time caregiver of individuals with Alzheimer's Disease.
Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver provides supportive
services via Medicaid funding to allow eligible recipients to reside in an approved assisted living facility, rather than in a nursing home. Eligibility
is based on income, assets and functional impairment.
Community Care for the Elderly provides support services
in the home for frail or functionally impaired residents ages 60 and older. Clients are enrolled based on assessed need. A sliding scale co-payment is
charged, according to income.
Elder Helpline is a central telephone number for assistance in locating services.
Calls are answered by operators familiar with programs available to the elderly. Should a caller need multiple services, a case manager is available for
assistance in arranging these services. Calls received during non-working hours are recorded and answered the next week day.

Home and Community-Based Medicaid Waiver provides in-home
and community-based services via Medicaid to allow frail elderly who meet income, assets and functional impairment eligibility requirement to continue
to live in the community, rather than be placed in a nursing home.
Home Care for the Elderly provides a financial subsidy to
families for care to low-income, frail elderly residents who would be eligible for nursing home care.
In-Home Services provides housekeeping services to frail,
low-income elderly ages 60 and older. Participants are chosen according to need and income qualifications.
Project Lifesaver Will Help Locate Wanderers with Alzheimer's Hillsborough County is now participating in a program that utilizes electronic tracking equipment to quickly locate at risk people who have wandered away from home. Project Lifesaver offers a service that will help locate people with dementia, autism and other cognitive impairments using a radio-tracking device manufactured by Lo Jack. This program could be especially helpful for people with Alzheimer's disease who have a history of wandering or exit seeking.

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program enlists persons age 55 and older to serve in non-profit agencies such as hospitals, schools,
libraries, nursing homes, museums and community centers.
List of Volunteer Opportunities provides a list of volunteer opportunities that are available in the community.
Senior Centers provides opportunities for persons age 60 and older to participate in
a variety of activities including computer training, blood pressure checks, fitness training, arts and crafts, field trips, support groups and congregate
noon meals at six neighborhood Senior Centers. Rooms are available at these centers that can be scheduled for Senior interest groups and classes.
Senior Adult Day Care Program provides comprehensive health, social, supportive
and therapeutic day services for persons age 60 and over and functionally-impaired adults through an interdisciplinary team approach at community-based
sites. Those who attend participate in activities, field trips, socialization and hot midday lunches. They can enjoy health and social programs that promote
better physical and mental well-being. Special programs are offered, such as Alzheimer's Disease Initiative and Adult Day Health.
Nutrition Services Program provides midday meals to persons ages
60 and older at 28 locations throughout the County. There also are lectures, films and demonstrations on nutrition education, as well as recreational activities.
Home-delivered meals are provided to seniors and disabled adults who are homebound and unable to prepare meals.
Senior Safety Zone The Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners passed Ordinance Number 07-12 on April 14, 2007 which bans sexual predators from living within 1,000 feet of designated senior communities. The ordinance was passed due to the Commissioners' concerns about the significant increase in the number of incidents in Florida and across the nation whereby registered sexual predators committed violent crimes against seniors.
Saturday Respite Care Program - "Caring For Those Who Care" provides a period
of relief and support services for the 24 hour caregiver of elderly individuals unable to be left alone.
