Valmarie Turner, Director

Valmarie H. Turner was appointed the Director of the Affordable Housing Department in December 2008. She is a seasoned manager of housing programs and brings a wealth of knowledge to the County through several local governments in Georgia and Florida.

Valmarie joined the County in 2006 as the Manager of Contracts Unit in the Affordable Housing Office. In that capacity, she was responsible for the management and administration of the Contracts Unit which was responsible for the development, oversight, and compliance monitoring of over 100 contracts with an economic impact on the local community of 70 million dollars in federal and state grant funds. She was also responsible for the Davis Bacon and Related Acts compliance as well as all federal labor standards for Capital Project Developments. Additionally, she serves as the primary Acting Affordable Housing Officer/Director when needed.

Valmarie is a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson in the State of Florida and Georgia, Certified Housing Counselor, Certified HOME Program Specialist, and Certified Housing Development Finance Professional.

Ms. Turner is a graduate of Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Economics as well as Walden University with a Masters of Public Administration Degree. She is very active in the community and a 2008 Graduate of Leadership Hillsborough. Valmarie resides in the Tampa Bay area with her daughter, Kendra.
